Friday 4 August saw the Cannington Exhibition Centre open it’s doors to members and guests for “Come Fly With Me” to launch the 2017 Make Smoking History Canning Show and official release of the 2017 Schedule of Entries.
Guests shared a great night with Jake Dennis who filled the hall with his passionate soulful melodies. His reviews said his voice is smokey and warm as chocolate – he certainly lived up to that reputation. Jake Dennis is an internationally published poet with
poems published all over Australia and recently in the UK, US, and NZ.
Many thanks once again to the volunteers who helped pull event together, our cabin crew and safety team. Most of all thanks those who joined us at the event – your time and attendance was most appreciated.
Member Christine Bailey said, “One of the most exciting air trips I’ve been on, & I’ve been on many…but it was interesting to see Max “Mad Max” from the Garden Club win the design competition (paper plane competition) flying by the seat of his pants. I
always knew he was a high flyer but I didn’t know he was the best in the club.
The evening was an opportunity to learn more about how you can become involved with the Show, and those interested in volunteering signed up for various roles including hall stewarding. If you were unfortunate enough to have missed the evening and if you are able to help out stewarding in the halls, make sure you contact Jenny in the office on 9451 1820.
